Polybutadiene rubber, known by the abbreviation PBR, is a solid polymer that does not dissolve in water, and due to the features that we mention below, it is the most important and widely used synthetic elastomer in the whole world, after styrene. Butadiene has many uses.

PBR is often used in the production of rubber and tires, and it can be safely said that about 70% of them are used as additives in this industry, and it is the fourth most widely used chemical substance, which is very similar in terms of properties to rubber. It has natural polyisoprene.

When butadiene one and minus three are obtained in different forms during the polymerization process and different catalysts are present in the production of this product, the produced PBR will have different grades, of which grade 1220 is the most used example.

As we mentioned above, most of the production of polybutadiene rubber is used in the tire industry, and most of these products are produced in the presence of the cis catalyst, which prevents the tire from tearing and increases the flexibility of the tire. and makes it maintain its mechanical properties.

On the other hand, when placed on uneven surfaces, the tire does not get torn or damaged, the tires of most heavy cars are made of polybutadiene rubber, so it has high durability and strength.

In the plastic industry, about 25% of polybutadiene rubber products are used, adding this substance to the raw materials of plastics increases its mechanical properties and stability and eliminates their soft and brittle state; On the other hand, it stabilizes the color and smell of plastics.

It may be interesting to know that most golf balls are produced by polybutadiene rubber, the central core of this ball is made of this elastomer material, therefore it is one of the durable balls with high stability.

Other uses of this product can be mentioned as raw material for producing hoses, plastic equipment between bricks or train rails; Also, if they are combined with nitrile rubber, a product resistant to fat and oil is obtained.

PBR is often melted at a very high temperature, but note that the melting of this material at a high temperature causes the creation of gases that reduce the oxygen in the environment.

These products are mostly produced in these domestic petrochemicals and are sold in bulk and smaller packages; It is also one of the products that are offered in the stock market and the demand for its purchase from the mentioned industries, including rubber and tire making, is very high.
